Hey i have an o1 tiburon and i want to do the ecu mods to get the xtra power but it seems like the only thing worth buying right now is the SAFC is there anylike actuall ecu's out there that you can use to help out ... like no rev limit and then what about if u were to put a custom turbo on it? thanks

Default Boss Head units HELP!!

Well.. You have 3 options basically.. Standalone, ie: Haltech (most expensive).. Then theres the S-AfcII, and something called the Powerchip.. Thats where you send your stock ECU to them, and they reprogram the ROM.. Leadfoot has a VERY good post going on right now, w/ helpful info.. Basically, its a joke, at this point in time.. Lots of time must be spent shipping the chip back and forth to get it where you want it, as they dont have your car w/ your mods.. S-Afc is the best deal out there right now, and is why its recommended..

As for rev-limiter.. Its put there for a reason.. Unless you highly mod your cars internals (cam, valves, valve springs, crankshaft), you cant get much more RPM's out of your car w/out breaking something.. And if you dont have some sort of boost, changing the rev-limit is pointless as power drops off BEFORE the stock limit..

thanks cyclops

i guess now would b is the safc2 worth the xtra money over the safc

what i was getting at w/ the rev limiter is like when i race i redline at 6.5 and if i hit that it does its thing and then drops me like what seems like 500 rpm . i usually dont run into the problem cuz i like shit exactly at 6.5 so i was just wanted something like a new ecu that i could have everything idiot proove like nothing can go wrong only good when i race... like sliipping over no more then like 200 rpm wont b a big deal , and if i got a new ecu nobody would c it so wouldnt have people try to jack my sheet again. noww is there ne other ecu's that could work in our cars lol?

Thanks .

If you didn't have a turgo, you could use the Accent GT 1.5DOHC ecu. That computer's cut-off is at 7000rpm (but at 6000rom in fifth gear). Tming is also better and there is no knock sensor.

I don't recommend it on a boosted car since a friend of mine, against many advices, tried it with is 1.5T and blew a piston within 400m 02.gif . But with my beta1 N/A, it's great.

But why would you want a 7k redline w/out valvetrain modifications? All the dyno sheets ive seen on the beta1 shows HP drop off BELOW 6500 RPM, which would make a 7k redline pointless wouldnt it?

Well, our engines start dropping off the powerband around I think 6k-6200 RPMs I THINK!!.. To get more out of your engine above those RPMs, you need to change the RPM range, usually done by changing the Cams and putting in heavier springs to accomadate the higher tensions of the cam.. Basically, get a cam w/ more duration, lift, and a closer lobe seperation.. With a cam that has all of that, it will change where the engine performs best, bringing it above the 6500 redline..

The timing, fuel ration map... are different, its not just a 7k redline wink.gif

I did over 50 000km with this ecu on a beta1 without any problems...plus the frequent races and a few drag races.
