i am tired of waiting for ssautochrome catback exhaust. i am going custom. i am getting a magnaflow muffler and have custom piping installed? i want to keep the stock cat. is that okay? should i get a resonator? also i have no shops that do mandrell bending.. darn.. will crush bending be okay? and will the non stainless steel piping last? what are everyone's thoughts. will i be okay without mandrel bends? will i still have a hp gain? help me out

Anyway, here's my advice...


Ok. Good idea. Was that meant to be a question? Stock cat is fine, so long as it's still good but it would be better to swap it out for a high-flow cat. Yes, get a perforated core resonator... the bigger the better. Crush/press bending will be fine but step the piping size up to 2.5". Mild steel should last at least a few years. My thoughts are pretty sordid & dirty actually but thanks for asking. Again yes, you'll be fine without mandrel bends but get 2.5" piping. Hp gain will depend on how good the shop is but you should notice a reasonable gain. Hope that helped.

Well crush bent messes the flow of the exhaust. Stock is crush. I just waited for more Motoria to be in stock from importshark and bought then. Go with what oz said if you don't want to wait it will be better than stock.

Just have then make it from the cat back if you want to keep your same cat. What would be better though is do everything at once and buy a hi flow off of ebay. I say just have them install one long glasspack, no muffler because I dont like the look of mufflers really. FYI the can mufflers are just really short glasspacks.

 

Don't use the stock cat, it's too restrictive. Dont do anything other than mandrel bends, as you are wasting yoru money. Be patient.

You in Iowa, there ARE places that do Mandrel bends. First call EVERY custom auto shop around you. You'll find one. Also, Meineke, Midas, and other national chains do custom exhausts. They cost about $200 or so, mandrel bent. I'd look one up for you but don't know WHERE you live.

Just doing a google search for "Iowa custom exhaust" you find a TON of matches. So, actually LOOK this time.

 

you should have went custom in the first place...but that's just my opinion!
