Confused On What To Put Some Money Into
Hey,
I'm definitely feelin ya there on the money issue. I'm 19 and going to college and I'm so damn broke right now (about to become even more broke as semester starts soon fml). Anyhow, about the oil change definitely go with the oem oil filter. Also this is for anyone, what exactly is the oil plug gasket? LOL yeah noob question but I'm sure it's not the washer you put on the plug before putting the plug back on lol so I'd like to know what that is.
Back to the $150 question, maybe go ahead and buy up regular maintenance stuff? It is basically extra money for ya and it doesn't seem like you need anything urgently. And besides when it comes to the time that you start getting serious with the mods, you don't wanna be stuck without the basics because you spent all your money on the mods and whatnot. So stock up on the oem filters, oil, spark plugs, cleaning supplies, fluids, maybe even tools, or whatever other maintenance stuff you might need. That way you don't have to worry about those when you go to buy parts.
Just my two cents smile.gif

alright guys so i went to my dad's friend's auto body shop. He was an absolute d*ck, who wanted to take advantage of me because im young and he thought i didnt know much about cars. He even started ragging on the tiburon. But anyway he said $850. This including a $250 fender..lol is he kidding? I also mentioned just banging it out myself and he almost had a heart attack. Oh well i just laughed him off.
So the plan as of now is to leave that until at least the spring so it is warm enough to be patient with working on it. So now it is down to either the beginnings of a sound system or a CAI. I will be definitely be throwing some money toward a few things such as microfiber towels, oil, gas etc. Im covered on tools because my brother went to Lincoln Technical Automotive school.
Thanks everybody for the advice about changing the oil, im planning to do that later in the week when it gets into the 30's weather wise. Thanks bullfrog as well im going to take a look at the fender for future reference.

just another quick update...craigslist never ceases to amaze me...a guy offered me 2 12" audiopipes subs in a custom box and two 6 1/2"door speakers for my $30 audiovox head unit. All i need is an amp and to install them.
$850?!?! I paid $850 to have my entire car repainted by a true "friend" ... wow
Insurance was going to give me $850 to cover paint materials and paint labor for my fender, hood, and front bumper.

The pain part with the new fender is that they have to blend the color to the rest of the car, its a long process to do that. Good luck man. Glad to see that you didnt let yourself get dragged over by someone taking advantage of you.

A lot of people tend to have that attitude when they see someone young come in with any car that has 4 cylinders, all they see is some punk who's watched the fast and the furious one too many times and thinks he's a racer. It's a horrible discrimination, but it happens. Fortunately, when they talk to you for a few minutes and see you can walk the walk, they slack off. This guy's not worth your time to be honest.
A shop that charges $80/hour in labor should be able to pop that fender off (can't remember if the bumper has to come off or not), fix the dent, then reinstall it in 2-3 hours. At least that's what some of the local guys here can do. For that matter, you can take the fender off, take it to the shop, and pay them an hour's worth of labor to fix it, then reinstall it yourself...
Just a few options to think about. Personally I know that having a car without any body or glass damage just feels better than having one that's faster. But that's my own hierarchy of needs.
Regardless man, stick with it, ask lots of questions, pm me for my phone number and call anytime, I'll gladly explain anything you need to know. You'll be a car wizard in no time. fing02.gif

I hear you with the $850 quote. I've been discriminated like that before as well, but of course it was for my turbo build. And if you say turbo + something sounds like honda, then they just start saying numbers. I had a full plan with complete details with what I needed done for my car to be installed professionally. He only asked me 3 questions then way over-quoted me. Anyway, that actually reminds me. I'll probably be getting rid of my CAI when I boost in the next couple weeks, so keep your eye out for my post-turbo sale.
