I am looking for a good 2.5" cat converter for our cars but there are so many models and stuff, and nobody seems to know for sure what is best.

Magnaflow has a huge line of converters. Some are supposed to be ODB-II, California compliant, but are more expensive (around $200). I would buy one if I knew for sure it works well. They also have a line of "OEM-grade" converters, which are supposed to be better than the regular universals. Still, there are a ton of models to choose from.
Denis (atelierhp) recommended the "mirror polish series", like 94306. Any actual experience with these?

I thought we could make this a review thread; please post
1) what cat converter you had
2) whether or not you had a CEL
3) whether or not you noticed the exhaust smelling bad/different than stock

Please post even if you weren't satisfied with the cat you had, so we know not to buy it smile.gif

I know from this thread http://www.rdtiburon.com/index.php?showtopic=27769&st=0 that DTN has

1) Magnaflow 94105
2) had a CEL, might have been due to a nitrous problem though
3) very clean exhaust

Note that the last digit in the Magnaflow models is the pipe size (5 = 2.25, 6 = 2.5, 9 = 3), so you can get the same converter in any pipe size

Whoa one at a time please!

I asked denisst99 and he recommended the 9430x mirror-finish series. Apparently Pascoile was running a 94309 (3" polished) and had no CEL. I ordered the 94306 (2.5") and will get it installed hopefully tomorrow, will update

Buddy of mine has Magnaflow on his MR2 and passed CO emissions. dmdicks hates them. LOL!! They are inexpensive. I already have a 3" new Magnaflow universal that is waiting to get put on. I'm gonna go that route before I spend anymore money. Will try to remember to re-post after I get it installed and emissioned.

Yea, but there are dozens of models Magnaflow offers, and some of them don't work

Magnaflow Universal Fit Catalytic Converter 91036

Went and looked it up just for you mang.

CEL. No extra smell or anything, seems to run clean, but CEL'ed anyways. Occasionally clears for a month or two when it is extra warm out... Hmm...

May the search continue...

I run a Catco 3".

No code for it for 3 months, while I could read codes. I can't read them anymore for some reason.
