I've been sitting on the exact same problem, and I ran a the codes and the CKP came up but it had it before and I didn't put the two together. I've since replaced the CKP with one from another Tib. Unfortunately the battery died in the mean time (left the key in the ignition by accident), so I tried push starting it with no luck. Was about to throw in the towel on it and take it to a mechanic and replace the starter motor.

zoned, you get this fixed? I'm going to go hook up the Tib to another car to charge its battery and see what I can do from there.

UPDATE:

Worked like a charm. Soon as I got the battery to a sufficient charge, started up just fine.

*casts Thread Resurrection Spell*

...

So months later the exact same problem crops again. Except this time I don't have a spare CKP sensor to pop in, and really... what are the chances of two of those sensors going bad on me?

Leads me to believe that there is some sort of wiring gone bad that is killing the sensor or I have another problem on my hand that just decided to disappear for a few months then come back.

You don't happen to have the megan header do you? If you do make sure you haven't melted the wire. Lost one crank sensor that way after my trans swap took me days to figure it out thought it was swap related. Now my new one got slightly melted and the car has trouble starting when warm. Hopefully the one I have coming fixes this.

I do have the megan header... I'll have to look into this tomorrow. Thanks for pointing that out to me. After reviewing the thread I noted that a bad CKP will prevent the fuel pump from activating, but I pumped the pedal a bit when trying to start it and definitely could smell gas.

Arghhh... why now just before winter! Well... I suppose its better than in the middle of a winter blizzard heh.
