Default Anybody used off-brand wheel bearings?

Has anybody used any off brand bearings like Timken or Parts Plus?

I'm usually the guy that goes for all OEM maintenance stuff, but if they keep breaking every 6 months I don't mind saving myself $40/bearing. I don't see a point in buying Hyundai bearings due to their horrible reliability.

Any horror/success stories about cheap-o bearings?

It is not the bearings that is the problem. It's the mechanic who presses them in place. If you pull out an old bearing and press in a new one without xleaning and ensuring the mating surface is flat then it will be at an angle which causes the bearings to go bad quickly. All but one of mine is stock. I hit a curb in Texas a year ago and had to replace one 6 months later.. It is still holding strong.

^ plus the preload setting.

BTW Timken is a huge, old, respected name in bearings, hardly an off brand.
