Any alternatives to the AEM intake? Short on cash... ;_;
Welp I just spent all the money i had on the full set of pulleys, optima yellow top, Three wire upgrade, battery terminal upgrade and full set of Kicker RS6c components.
bad news is my custom cold air intake (Home Depot Racind Developments smile.gif ) is no more cause i hit something on the road and ripped the whole thing out. don't ask how it happened, it just did.
So I'm sick of making custom el cheapo intakes and would like buy a "real" cold air intake. However the AEm is farking expensive at almost $200 shipped. I simply don't have that kind of cash left.
Are there any reasonable replacements for the AEM intake? Injen or other brand wise? If there was an intake from another compnay that went into the fenderwell I would see no reason to get the AEM intake other than for bragging rights.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

sure are, just search, I haven't installed the aem, I know it's supposed to give a couple extra hp, but also is supposed to be more prone to vaporlock... hence the reason they have the bypass available for them. plus they are supposed to be harder to install, but that is all heresay.
final, check with someone who's installed both. but either way I love mine from liveonspeed

I can tell you this.. one of the first things you are going to want to do... replace the el-cheapo filters with a quality K&N one. Those cheapo filters do not do much more than keep leaves and rocks out of your engine.
there's that ebay CAI (I don't remember who sells it) that you enlarge a hole underneath the battery tray to put in the air filter. I have it and it works very well.
You, me, and I think Java have that intake... personally, I love it because it is different from all others, it was cheaper, and the air path is so much shorter. The Filter is also not hanging down near the botoom of the car, but a little above foglight height up inside the fender.
Getting a LOT of use out of these pics
From the passenger side:

From the Drivers:

You can see how the battery is moved and the aluminum tube disappears into the lower fender area...
And the new pics without so much red (any my nice new and light battery!)
