1. 3 chamber mufflers vs regular? do they really help quiet the noise down that much?
example: http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/shopdis...main&id=303 vs http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/shopdis...main&id=350
2. all the magnaflow universal mufflers are only 14" long, but then they have 3" long inlets and outlets. would it be really hard to trim those inlets/outlets to be like 1/2" or 1" long and still weld the muffler on?
3. the problem is that from where the exhaust comes down over the axel, to the exit in the bumper, i have 20" to fit a muffler. if i buy the shortest muffler i can (magnaflow that is) it is 20" overall length (because of the extra 6" from the inlets and outlets), and then i have no room for a tip...so what to do?
4. all the tips i find on the internet are about 6-8+" long..shouldn't there be shorter ones? especially if mufflers are gonna be 20" long?
5. would it be possible to cut off just the tip portion of this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/UNIVERSAL-F...087344003QQrdZ1
and weld it on a different, better, magnaflow? reason is that this is the tip i want, and i can get that ebay muffler for $40, but all the places i find to get a tip from want like $60 for JUST the tip. it'd be cheaper to buy the whole muffler and cut it off, if that would be possible..
6. i know this is like the 1 millionth exhaust topic i have made in the past couple weeks, thanks for reading another one :-P
7. i purchased the ARK exhaust, 2.5" SS mandrel bent over axel. i'll be installing it this weekend with a magnflow hi-flow cat, whichever muffler/tip i pick based off this thread, and my obx 421 headers. i will do a full writeup with pics and part #s, maybe sound clips.
thx!

Interesting, that oval tipped muffler looks similar to how the stock muffler on my old tib looked..
You are definatly going to want to run a resonator in front of the axle with the muffler. With the straight through design of that glasspack, you are going to need all the help you can get in keeping it quiet

mad, i don't like that muffler, i only want that muffler tip.
would it be possible to just cut the tip off and weld it on a different muffler? like a magnaflow?
how much can u trim them monox, like to 1/2" or an 1"? they come at 3", if i could trim them to 1/2" on each side, that would save me 5"!

ive had to cut a few flanges on different installs. i try to give myself at least an inch on each side just so the weld itself isnt having the force put on it, and inch on each end slip fitted alone is enought o hold, and not flex to much, so with the weld it would be nothing to worry about.
i wouldnt try it with a clamp though, thats just asking for trouble.

3 chamber will make deeper sound but will also take a few horses away.

Dremel with a metal cutting disk should be able to do the job.

Shorten the piping on the muffler with a dremel or any shop can do it.

Usually tips slide over the muffler pipe. So you got a few extra inches you can work with.

Possible but will require lots of labor, which will cost you too much money. Not worth it IMO.
Good luck with the install. Are you doing it yourself?
