Air Problem .. Cai Related

Just put a different CAI in, (AEM) and I start the car and it is running horribly rich. The car is struggling to idle, the RPMs are jumping up and down between 500-1000.
No CEL.
I checked all clamps and hoses and they're all secure.
IAT is also in place and secure.
What's the problem??
Note that before I installed this CAI I had a recurring CEL that started after I installed my old CAI (the one i took off today), could never figure out what it was (no autozone).. don't know if that is related or not
