Default 03 Tib Engine Questions

Anybody know if the new v6 Tib engines can be bored out?
and WHY it can't handle much over 200hp. there has to be a way it can be made to be able to hold at least 300hp.
Does using an aftermarket intake void the 100,000m warranty? b/c the stock airbox is a airflow KILLER. all that plastic covering in the engine bay can't be helpfull.

Don't know for certain but some of the guys in Korea said it can handle 250whp for the 6's and 240 for autos.

as for warranty,... dont drive it to the dealer with the intake. Just install it, and if you need to take it to the dealer, put it back on.

Its not like you visit the dealer on a weekly basis. rolleyes.gif

There was a post recently about some guy who put nitrous in his '03 Tib GT. I guess it's not a good idea because the engine went down. The worst part is that he forgot to take some parts of his nitrous kit off and his nice little warranty was voided by the dealership.

The nitrous-equipped V6 Tiburon that died was apparently from failed main bearings which eventuall caused the crankshaft to snap in half.

The DELTA V6 engines are not strong, period. Cheuk was mentioning that the most these engines usually get in Korea is a 75-shot and that's it. Anyone trying to "race out" one of these engines usually ends up destroying it.

The problem is that the engine is just not designed for much more HP than it currently produces. Could you fix it? Yes. How much money do you have? Money fixes ALL automotive problems. Get someone to make you some ultra strong main bearning caps, ultra strong crank, might as well do the rods and pistions as long as you are there. Only problem is...then you might find out the block cracks/flexes at 300 WHP...or that the axles snap at 275 WHP....

How much HP do you want? How much do you want to spend. That will really determine if that motor is capable of reaching your HP goal within your budget.

Hey Random,

Let's suppose that I have an extremely flexible budget and want to make my '03 Tib a LOT faster. Can you give me an idea for how much would it cost to make all of those "extra strong" parts for my engine? How about getting a new engine altogether that's already turbo or supercharged? (If that's even possible). Thanks...
