Hyundai Sonata Forum The Hyundai Sonata Forum. The Sonata (around since 1989) and Hyundai XG300/XG350 (new for 2002) pickup the near-luxury segment for Hyundai. Find out where to get all the luxuries Korea is holding back on (HID, navigation systems, etc.) and how to tune your Hyundai Sonata, Azera, or XG for performance.

Default Sonata versus Genesis

How much quicker is the 2.0T Sonata versus the 2.0T Genesis? I know the Sonata has alot more HP and Torque, but doesnt it weigh alot more than the Genesis, which would make it kind of an even race? Also, the Sonata's dont come with a manual tranny, right? It seems like it would be an even race, but once the same Sonata engine comes in the next Genesis, then I think it would beat a Sonata pretty easily. What do you guys think?

Ive raced both a 2.0 and 3.8 with my Sonata. The 2.0 didnt have a chance, and the 3.8 was pretty even with me. All I have done is a front mount, HKS BOV, AEM filter, and a Midas Special downpipe and exhaust with free flow muffler.
