Default v-6 into a 2001

How much difficulty would be in this...doing an automatic 2003 v6 into a 2001 engine bay? The gains that are seen by the v6 i think is worth the change.

v6=180hp=>150whp(lots more torque)
i4=140hp=>120whp

now for the price of the labor, engine, sweat, tears and beer. You can strap on a turbo to your i4 and push 250+ or close to 300hp.

Worth it.....not really. Unless you want a N/A engine. Its alot heavier then the i4 and bigger, so you'd have to do alot of body/frame work to get it to fit.

They gains are not really worth the money, unless we start seeing the delta v6 push 250whp+.

Theta might be nice to drop in. But also remember.

You will have worse handling, with a 300-400 pounds in your nose, from the bigger engine.

Also its been done. And why an Auto? Yuck!
It not much frame work, just engine mount work.

basically, hit the search button dood,m its been discussed and rehashed and discussed.

and its still not worh it.

remember, its not just droping the 6spd in, you also are redoing the wirirng and fuel system for the new engine.
and suspension.

GOT NAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWZZZZ?!?!?!?!

If you go ahead with the v-6... let us know, i can probably hook you up with an engine

The V6 engine will NOT fit into the Gen1 or G2 tiburon with out a LOT of customization/fabrication. It CAN be done, but it would not be cheap. I would estimate about $2000 + the cost of the engine and tranny.

The Front Subframe on the 01+ elantras and 03+ tibbies is VERY different.

It would be fairly easy to drop the V6 into an 01+ elantra....I keep waiting for a V6 6-speed Elantra....

Random-

What about the earlier version Deltas prior to the 2002 revision. The 2.7L that has 171hp. Those were in the earlier subframes as well. Do think that one would be any easier?

Also, that engine is not 300-400lbs heavier, not by a long shot...its all aluminum, and the total weight increase from 2000-2003 is 300lbs. Most of that is from the new frame and all that sound dampening material.
