Swapping Engines
I still would like to do this.....Check my profile for my car....But Since the Tiburon is Based on the Elantra....It shoudn't be hard to get the 2.7L V6 in My spectra....I have a lot of space.....and the 5-door seems to have more room under the hood...then the 4-door Spectra....If I can do this what will I have to do, and how much would everything cost me....Oh or a 2.4L or the old 2.5 V6.....Please Reply thanks.....

if you want to do this, RESEARCH it. no one can tell you how much it will be. do you plan on doing the labor yourself? if not, there's at least a grand or two. you need to know where the 2.7L mounts are and how it's going to sit in the engine bay. anything's possible with $$$. you're going to need to have stuff fabricated.

for the modest performance increase of the 2.7L engine, you would be better off to work with the engien you have. It would cost you a minimum of $2000 to get the 2.7L and install it, assuming no custom work needs to be done. For that price, you should be able to get 150 HP to the wheels out of your exisiting engine.

Oh, I see, but this is just a plan for the future or thought if I don't get a turb which are both plans but the turbo is more of a custom thought, and as you said random if there is no custom work.....Thats not really a bad price as some others told me aroud near 5-7 K...were getting lower...lol....Thanks.....

In theory, an engine swap (direct same engine for same engien) should only cost about $500 to $750.
That leaves you $1500 to $1250 for the motor, flywheel and ECU.
Splicing the wiring harnesses and makeing it all work would be your job.
if you want to PAY someone to do 100% of the swap, then yeah, you'd be looking at at least another $500-1000 in wiring harness splicing and re-wiring.

Wow I didn't know so much was involed...you know back in the day it was easy to just swap the engine and change the rear end axels...Now your right computers making things diffcult and more exspensive...But hey you got to love them....I'll keep trying to work on my engine, it is new so why not...and I'll try to get a turbo for it later, Thanks Random...

if you want a engine swap that would drop in your car, try searching for the fe3 mazda motor. i think its a 2.0 4 cylender. off hand i believe its like 190 horse. try looking into that engine. they are very sweet and there are turbo versions of it available in japan that have hella power.

But in 98 they changed and went with a mitsubitshidesigned and technology of Kia and Mitsu both only the 94-97 Sephias have the mazda engine because they were based off of the protege and the escort/tracer..
