Hyundai's XG350's V6 puts out 216ft/lbs@3500RPM
I imagine the horsepower rating are almost the same... And the V6 in the Tib puts out 181ft/lbs@4000RPM... I was wondering {not that I would be able to do it} if the 3.5 would fit in the Tib, and if one was able to supercharge it, if it would be worth the extra weight that I'm assuming the 3.5 has over the 2.7? I was wondering how fast the engine could be with a 6 speed manual tranny, assuming of course that the two are even compatible...
Just curious what you guys think...

 

The 3.5L got rave reviews in the XG series and in the Kia Sorento. Makes you wonder how Hyundai can offer the 3.5L in the XG for 23K and in the Kia Sorento for under 20K, but can't offer it in the Santa Fe for over 20K....

The 3.5L is NOT a "delta" like the 2.7L. As such, it has different motor mounts, and different tranny hookups. It would NOT be an easy swap, but with enough money...it's possible.

I assume that this 3.5 is geared to pull the heavier XG's and Sorentos... And that the trannies would be geared lower to help get these larger masses accelerating... Now if the same powertrain setup was in the new Tib, would it be sluggish? Or would it have better 'torque' considering the same setup was in a bigger car, so it would be easier to get the smaller car going...
Its would be nice to have a 3.5L supercharged engine in a Tiburon, no?!?!?

 

Given the same gearing in the existing Tibby, it would accelerate faster.

Going with the XG350 gearing, it would accelerate slower, but that is because the XG is not geared for speed, but for comfort.
