The 2.0L beta bolts in place of the 1.6L beta. So go ahead with that one. Heck, RPW build up insane betas...maybe you should just buy a motor from them!

i have a copy of the nov 2001 of Sport Compact Car with the evo 7 in the cover. i've noticed that the tranny in the evo's 4g63 is in the same place as ours. could it bolt up? sure i have to fabricate custom mounts and find an fwd tranny to connect it to the drive wheels and other important crap to do to make it work but is it possible?

in the US and in Korea, how much is a 2.0 beta?

Rotary engines could work, couldn't it? it's light, powerful, and could be easily turbocharged, i think.

or a B18C5...

or maybe i should stick with my 1.6 and turbocharge the heck out of it. but thats probably not such a good idea.

lantraluvr:

Yes, the evo engine could work...if you could findsomeone to create motor mounts...and find a FWD tranny that would fit...and then axles to fit that tranny...

In the USA, used betas go for as cheap as $300, as expensive as $1200 for a "new" motor.

Rotary would be a major PITA to fit in the engine bay, and bolt up, plus adapt to a tranny that is FWD...

The honda engines spin the other way. You would have 5 gears of reverse and one gear of forward...

assuming that's the min price of a 2.0 beta it's inexpensive. i need to find a 2.0 right away!

does anyone know anything about a 1.6 beta motor? maybe i should stick to my engine. Red, Random, anyone? any info on my engine?

does anyone know the tib guy who has the evo motor?

when i bought my car it was 1.6

my first step was:
-removed resonator
-replaced my stock filter
-installed hose from stock filter housing down to radiator.

i did'nt noticed ANY improvement except sound.

so i went in a performance shop for a BBTB bored IM and possibly mufflerheaders.

the guys honestly said: there is little or nothing to do with 1.6 staying NA WITHOUT AFFETCTING LOW END POWER.

BBTB and ported IM:

rough idle and no significative performance increment.
resetting ecu solved idle problem.

according to him ( shop mechanic ) the underbored 1.6 engine share all with 2.0 exept crank rod and pistons.

it has the same head with same valve train,
same IM, same TB, same injectors, same headers, cat and same stock muffler.
all with same diameteers and size.
so i will noticed little or nothing with different exaust because diameters are enough for 1.6.

guys prospected three ways:
-overbore the 1.6 to 1.790-1.820 cc
-search a 2.0 engine from wrecked car
-use a delta hf turbo

i found a 2000 engine with 36000 km at ...
about 500 $
swap with 1.6 trasmission is very simple.
i use 1.6 cam and 1.6 ecu with a eprom chip properly tuned.
i've also bbtm and ib and my semicustom CAI
and stock exaust.
I'M very satisfied. i can use my gears as... my KTM 250.
wink.gif wink.gif wink.gif wink.gif
i hit 210 kmh in speedometer... so my turbo project can wait smile.gif

cobaltibby: wow! my fastest speed was 200 kph! why does the ecu need programming? where do you live?

if cobaltibby's tib is fast right now, i can't wait when he has a turbo!

i'm in italy.
here we have both 1.6 and 2.0 cc.
First and second gen 1.6 tib are both beta (77.4 x 83.5 84kw-114cv and 85kw-116cv respectively), except few last tibs that are 1.6 alpha (76.5mm x 87mm 108cv) to meet euro 3 emission.
First and second gen 2.0 tib are 2.0 beta
(82 x93.5) with 102kw (138 cv)
Now ALL second gen are NOW "out of production".

we have no width street, and very restrictive laws about top speed limits (130 km/h) so we are not inclined in top speed research.

Laws are very restrictive about emission, about rims diameter, and tire sizes also.

Top speed between 1.6 and 2.0 displacement in my car is, i suppose, basically the same because i USED 1.6 trasmission.

Differential gear ratio is 4,056 in 1.6 cc,
3.842 in 1.8cc and 3.650 in 2.0cc trasmission.

I and V gear are short too compared to 2.0 trasmission.

I gear in 1.6 trans is 3.462
I gear in 2.0 trans is 3.380
V gear in 1.6 trans is 0.86
V gear in 2.0 trans is 0.78

so all gears end quickly like a cross motorcycle. I LOOOVE IT.

about top speed:

i hit 198-200 km/h in SPEEDOMETER with 1.6 engine at 6400 rpm

i hit 205 210 km/h in SPEEDOMETER with 2.0 engine at 6500 rpm

the difference is that with 2.0 engine i can more easily hit red line in 5 gear.

i have not dynoed my car but i can easy over come other tibs with my few mods (bbtb BIM 2.0 tibs".

i don't know exactly why ecu need to be retuned: i suppose that fuel map and injection timing are not the same in 1.6 and 2.0.
Probably values exceed the self-learning capacity. I should ask to my mechanic..
