Default juicy engine swap question

I want to put a mitsu evo engine like a tibby owner i read about somewhere. I need to know how to install, how much is the motor, etc. If the evo motor is too much, how bout a 4g63? or a 2.0 L Beta(my car has a 1.6)? I know that the beta swap is easier than the mitsus but I dont know where to look in this land where Tibs are rarer than platinum and where hondas rule the land. I want a turbo car and to kick some vtec butt! also, the swap must be cheap (i dont care how hard it is as long as it's possible). What you guys think?

i take it you havn't done much to your engine
cause here in new zealand i have many close races with hondas i've bet a ek vti-s civic (close)which was modded out!
heaps of crx's and integras

a vti-r would probly beat me, just
i've still got N/A 2.0L beta with a few mods

I want to do what u want to as well!

i was thinking of a mitsi or a subaru engine i love my coupe but face it it looks faster than it is..

or else just get a NOS that way u can drive all day and kick ass only when u want too!

The swap is NOT cheap. Lancer motors need to be imported from overseas. You are looking at $4000 for just the motor with turbo, Another $1000 to fabricate custom engine mounts, another $1000 to install it and hook it up to the Hyundai Tranny. They Hyundai Tranny will not deal with that much power, so you'll need a new Clutch $500, new stronger axles $500, plus a completely custom exhaust to fit the Lancer motor and the Tiburon frame/body, so add in another $500.

You are looking at at least $7000 if you do a lot of the work yourself, even more if you are going to pay someone to do it for you.

alz99: ur right i did little to my elantra but I can smoke civics, corollas, lancers, etc. I dont know what is the equivalent of a vti-r here but the civic SIR is the car to beat for me.

u know anyone who has done/will do a swap such as this or to other motors?

lantraluvr -

I just saw that you were in the Phillipines. You might save some money on the Lancer motor if it is available in your country, but chances are everything else will cost more to get to the phillipines, so I still think the cost estimate would be about the same.

Hey random labor is cheap here in the philippines. it will probably cost me around $7000 with labor. an evo engine is too hard to find here too. what about an eclipse engine and tranny? someone is offering me a 4g63 Galant engine for $1000. or the 2.0 beta? I want to consider UFB's turbo kit but i dont think my present engine (1.6 beta) will work with it. PLS HELP

The problem with the "Eclipse" engine is that is 100% backwards of our engines. The flywheel is on the wrong side, so the transmission will never bolt up.

You'd have even MORE problems getting an Eclipse engine to work because of all the backwards stuff sad.gif
