you can easily get your compression to 7:7:1 if you want to with p & p, 1.8 cam, 1.8 ecu and a few other things. I think caj darkmoon or someone did a DIY for doing your own P&P work. It really is mostly time with a dremel tool and sandpaper and since you pulled your own engine I would think you could do it yourself.
Running 20-25 PSI is high on a Beta 1 engine. You can find several tibs on RDT running high PSI on stock engines. Most seem to run in the 16-17 range on stock compression but some test the waters with higher numbers. I don't believe there are many that boost over 20 regularly.

theres a guy here in Aus with a built LC2 thats running 22psi on a garret turbo and an external wastegate
think its got forgies in it to around 8:1 compression
