Accent swap
Do anybody know what engine fits on 2002 accent, I heard some of ppl at school talking about swapping it with the 1.8 or 2.0 tib or elantra engine, is this possible.

Well, I'm not so sure the newer (2001+) accents can do the swap w/o a kit. The only year accents that have had this done are the 95-99 model and a 2000 model. The 95-99 models require a kit. The 2.0L basically bolts into a 2000 accent, as much as an engine can "bolt on".
Although the 2000 and the 2001&2002 identical, they are not. The 01/02 models, at least the ones with the 1.6L DOHC have both a returnless fuel system and a subframe. Both of these are gonna make the swap a lot more difficult, becuase the beta (the motor in the tib/elantra) uses a return fuel system. Also, the motors that came from a tib/elantra with a subframe (2001+) will have different mounting points presumably becuase they are bigger than the accent, and the previous cars had a center crossmember to which one of the tranny mounts attaches. I sincerely doubt that crossmemeber would fit on the subframed accent.
Basically, it aint gonna be the easiest thing in the world.... but anything is possible with money. wink

as far as I know, no one has yet done this in the USA. Several people have talked about it, and may be in the process of it, but I don't think anyone has completed it yet.
