Default 4g63T swap

I have the option to get a 4g63T compleate with 16G Mitsubishi turbo, wire harness, reflashed ECU, tranny w/ LSd and a 89 Mirage 1.6T shell all for $2,000 banana.gif . I was toying with the idea of swapping the motor into my Lc2. If I sold the shell and get some motor mounts I can easily get someone to do the swap for at MOST $1,200. now does anyone know whats involved with this kind of swap? mechanicly the guys I know that will do the swap I trust to get all the modifications needed done but what about the wireing? How would the wire harness match to my accents guages and so fourth?

Any help with this "IDEA" Again its an IDEA not a set in stone plan.

NO I will NOT do some Beta Swap. Again the reason I am toying with this idea is because I can make my car LEGAL if I do this AND I will have 200 crank hp from the stock 4G63T.

Thanks again.

I thought everything after the X3 wasn't a good candidate for a mitsu swap because of the physical logistics (wrong side of engine bay, etc.)

'course anything can be done with enough money, but I thought the fabrication/labor was cost prohibitive.

Wrong orientation of the 4G63T. An EVO 4G63T at least faces the right side. If you can find someone to do the swap for $1200 have at it, but it'll be a pain in the ass.

I'm no expert, but I thought in California any engine swap had to be your year or newer...

thats what I thought????? And yeah go for and evo's swap for ease of installation. I'm gonna say you should get the entire wire harness for the evo along with it. and just go from there.

Just get the mirage and have a sleeper. If you want to swap it in a hyundai go for the J1 elantra or early excel. They will both be literally just an engine and ECU swap. Maybe a few wires depending on what year you swap it to.

Damn...yeah Hyundaiturbo14b just told me that today disappointed.gif . So it must be fact if 3 ppl say it. Im still gonna check and see. These laws dont make any sense at all. Its just a cars BODY what does it matter if I swap an older engine into it. I do have an idea why. If you say Buy an old 89 Hyundai. you drive it for years then it goes dump on you. You can swap any engine from 89-2009 into it. But say like my 04 accent if that engine goes bad according to emmisions rues my car came with a more "cleaner" engine so any engine older than my year is deemed "less efficient" there fore not as "clean". So it would in a sense be causing more pollution to swap a dirty older engine into a newer car that has a cleaner engine. Uggg its hard to be a car tunner... Comfort.gif

I completely agree with that last comment. It IS hard to be a tuner! So, i was thinking the same thing... swaping an Evo 4g63t in2 my accent of the same year. I just don't know all the logistics either. I g2 give u props on the body kit and fitment of your wing. i'm wanting to use the sides and rear of the jetspeed kit for a custom wide-body. i have caviar dreams and a welfare budget, but i was thinking, if u can get an evo 4g can u fit a rear end of an old awd excel or evo onto an '04 and convert it to awd? got any up to date info on the swap idea?

To be 100% truthful, while it is technically possible to swap ANY engine into ANY car that doe not mean it's terribly cost effective. For that matter which 4G are we talking about because there are many variants, some even rotated 108 degrees from the next? Lurk a bit because you will find a number of Hyundai Beta swapped accents for a fraction what a 4g swap would cost. Even then you have room for many mods. And the Beta was derived from the 4g so it's probably more along the lines of what you are looking for.

not to be a dick but if your on a welfare budget then a turbo car isnt the way for YOU to go fast. buy a bike and you will be much happier for far cheaper. any one on here who has a turbo car will let you know that it stays down as much as it stays running. and if nothing else do what everyone else is telling you and get a betaswapped accent if 4wheels are more your speed.

I love 4g63 swap threads (despite 3yr old thread)... but the easiest swaps I could imagine would be the the early 92-95 elantras with the 4g61 (G4CR), the 92-95 sonata with the NT 4G63 (G4CD), those are definetly just engine/ecu swaps. The X2 Excels are also drop in with the 92-95 elantra engine mounts/brackets and crossmember (which also bolt right in btw). I'd expect dash/tach and other misc wiring would be different in each car. Here's some useful mitsu engine codes and thier hyundai equivalence:

Hyundai code G4DJ = Mitsubishi code 4G15

Hyundai code G4CR = Mitsubishi code 4G61

Hyundai code G4CP = Mitsubishi code 4g63

Hyundai code G4CS = Mitsubishi code 4G64

Hyundai code G4CN = Mitsubishi code 4G67

Hyundai code G6AT = Mitsubishi code 6G72.

List below are Hyundai's commercial vehicle name, with its engine name and equivalence with Mitsubishi engine code

92-95 Elantra 4g61 G4CR

93-95 Hyundai Elantra 4g67 G4CN

90-94 Hyundai Excel 4g15 G4DJ

89-91 Hyundai Sonata 4g64 G4CS

92-95 Hyundai Sonata 4g63 G4CP

89-93 Hyundai Sonata 6g72 G6AT

90-92 Hyundai Scoupe 4g15 G4DJ
