4G63 vs Beta swap (again)
Ok here's the scoop: I can't find a single 2.0 Beta in this damn country. So I was looking for other options in order to reach my goal (300 hp). Someone suggested that I should swap a 4G63 from an Eclipse (turbocharged) instead. The engine itself is less than $1000 and install is around $300. Also, if I want it to reach 300+ hp and make it 4WD, everything is going to cost around $3000, give or take.
So what route should I go? Should I get a Beta from abroad or install a 4G63 in my Elantra? I absolutely don't know what to do. Please help me.

u may be able to finangle the engine in there, but not for 300 bux, and u wont be able 2 make it RWD without abuout 10k in parts
think about it, u need to make a tunnnel for the driveshaft, differential transftercase, and a custom driveshaft is needed and the engine/tranny mounts all need 2 be custom made... good luck

The 4G63 is 180 degrees (backwards) of the BETA engine... You cannot swap it with any amount of ease. If you want to go that route, look for the "other" 4G63 that is used in the EVO Lancers.

According to my sources, it would/could be 4WD with the price I've mentioned. But I'm gonna inquire about that. And the cost of labor for installing a 4G63 would really cost me around $300. Labor is cheap here. smile.gif
Red: I know it is a PITA to install and all that but one thing's for sure - it HAS been done by someone here. One crazy mutha here swapped a 2.0 Beta in his Elantra and blew it. Then he swapped to a 4G63 from an Eclipse.

like red said, if you're going the 4g63 route, get the evo engine. it's a better engine than the beta, so go that route if you have the money. however, the beta's not a bad engine to turbo. and think about it like this. you want a daily driver (i think), so don't shoot for 500hp from your beta or 4g63. 300whp+ in an elantra is plenty for serious fun, and you can get 300whp from a beta and still have it as a daily driver.

Yeah, but I have to import stuff from other countries. Not like the 4G63, wherein I could buy parts locally. I'll probably go Beta but the 4G63 swap with 4WD is too tempting to pass up.

Viper966 is right. i had a 1G TSIAWD and to get a new engine and tranny was gonna cost me 9k. and that quote is for a simple drop in install. ona hundai, things are different, you will need a fmic( which need to have custom fabbed piping) in addition to the engine and the tranny linkup for awd is nearly inmpossible. you would also need bigger than 2" exhaust due to the turbo and 300 hp, if you dont, your turbo will sit there in super cool lag mode and not do anything. if you got 15k you can prolly pull it off, but would you want to. what can you do with 15k on your current engine to make 300hp....lots. intake, cams, headers, exhaust, clutch, flywheel, turbo, nitrous, pistons, rods....come on now. yeah we dont have a huge market, but thats all the more reason to have a real hyundai thats real fast

Yeah, I thing the guy I was speaking to is smoking something... Or maybe not. I think that they are going to use surplus parts and do some careful cutting. But 4WD is not my priority now. I'll buy a 4G63T for around Php 45,000 (US$ 850) and install it for around Php 15,000 (US$ 885). Then I'll do other stuff later.

Check my sig. I could only probably only make about 200+ hp w/ turbo because my engine does not have any available internal mods.
