When the heck did gen coupes come with 17" rims?

The base 2.0T came with them. Every other trim came with 18's or larger.

I have a base 2.0 and mine has 18" for stockers.

No, the genesis coupe only came with 18's and 19's stock, I have a base 2.0 auto and it has 18's the spare tire donut is a 17" but only because it is a space saver.

I think the very first ones in Korea came out with 17"s. My OEM collision parts catalog it only mentions 17 and 18 inch wheels. No 19s.

the 17's don't fill the wheel wells nearly enough

If you had a 50 series tire the 17s would be same diameter as the current 18 or 19 tires. I've though about it for the track. And some use 17s for winter tires. Not many will clear the Brembos though.
