Hyundai’s New 3.3L Twin-Turbo V6 Engine Specs Leaked

Expected to power the next-generation Genesis coupe, previewed above in the HND-9 concept, details of the 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 have leaked onto the Internet.
Engine output will reportedly be rated at 365 hp with 379 lb-ft of torque. Compared to the current 3.8-liter naturally-aspirated 3.8-liter V6 engine, the twin-turbo mill provides 27 more horsepower and 84 lb-ft of torque. It is also expected to be a more fuel efficient engine.
The leaked images also show that the new powerplant will feature Intermediate CVVT technology, though details on how that will be different than Hyundai’s existing CVVT is unclear. Arguably the most impressive aspect to look forward to with Hyundai’s new LambdaII 3.3-liter twin-turbo GDI V6 engine is its relatively flat torque curve, with peak torque coming in before 1500 RPMs and saying that way to 4500 RPMs.
This isn’t the first time the Korean automaker has used a turbocharged version of its 3.3-liter V6 engine. At the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, Kia previewed the powerplant in its GT concept delivering 390 hp and 294 lb-ft of torque.
Rumors continue to surface that the next-generation Genesis Coupe will make use of this engine as well as the brand’s 5.0-liter V8 with as much as 450 hp on tap.
