Hyundai Elantra Forum The Hyundai Elantra Forum. Later models (96-up) of this 4-door share their Beta engines and chassis with the Hyundai Tiburon. Earlier Mistubishi-based Hyundai Elantras (92-95) are perfect candidates for the popular 4g63t motor swap, which turns the Hyundai Elantra into a real sleeper. These characteristics make the Hyundai Elantra a great car for those who want sports car performance with family car flexibility.

well if your in a race and your doing 20 in 2nd. you done lost. unless you got you foot still on the gass and your roasting your clutch. But i don't know about you guys, when i drag race my rpm is no where close to 2k it's more like 3.5-4k.
I know the tibby's greatest power in from 4-6k All you gotta do is get doing donw the highway in 5th and get cloe to your 4k line and the car actually picks up much quicker. It's usually about 80-85 and then your at 100-120 before you know it.

Sorry Boom, no slight to the WRX's or other turbo cars out there. wink My point was that rapid power changes are not unique to turbocharged cars.

I will concur with the crowd. A well sized turbo on any car / track should not give you any problems. No one should be reving at 2000 rpms during a turn.... you should downshift to remain in your power/boost band.

The only situation where there might be a boost on / off problems is in sequential turbos that are not well balanced... like the TT RX-7's. When boosted above the stock 10 psi level, the problem is extreme. Right at 4500 rpms when the second turbo kicks in... you get a 100 hp kick in the pants. Very tricky to drive smoothly on a road course, thank god for the power to weight ratio and a good suspension.
