Hyundai Elantra Forum The Hyundai Elantra Forum. Later models (96-up) of this 4-door share their Beta engines and chassis with the Hyundai Tiburon. Earlier Mistubishi-based Hyundai Elantras (92-95) are perfect candidates for the popular 4g63t motor swap, which turns the Hyundai Elantra into a real sleeper. Default Synthetic oil filters

Has anyone used synthetic oil filters like the one from Puralator? Are they really designed for 10k miles or just an excuse to charge more money ($12)?

I use synthetic oil and I normally use regular high quality oil filters, but would be interested in synthetic type if worth the money.

I doubt if they are worth it. It's all personal preference I would think as a Fram junkster will do the job good enough to get a couple 100k out of a motor. It's more important how often you change the oil IMHO. But that depend on many things too.

NEVER EVER USE FRAM FILTERS! EVER! They have been tested and proven to be garbage.

OEM Hyundai filters only. Your car will thank you.

I don't use them. But they seem t be getting better than what they were. Bob is the oil guy is your friend.

I will say that my Accent would start knocking at cold start when the oil needed changed if using Purolator filters, Doesn't with the Hyundai filter. The OEM Hyundai filter is one of the best built ones I've seen.
