Hyundai Elantra Forum The Hyundai Elantra Forum. Later models (96-up) of this 4-door share their Beta engines and chassis with the Hyundai Tiburon. I have a diy on taking apart and cleaning the lifters. It quieted them down a lot.

Replacement lifters cost about $200 iirc. Or you could just swap to a Beta 2 non-cvvt head that already has solid lifters.

Nobody makes roller lifters for a Beta (or any Hyundai).

It's hydraulic (low maintenance, works ok enough for normal engines) or solid (requires clearance setting, can be spun faster). Both involve sliding contact with the cam. There is no conversion to roller anything in this valvetrain.
