Hyundai Elantra Forum The Hyundai Elantra Forum. Later models (96-up) of this 4-door share their Beta engines and chassis with the Hyundai Tiburon. Earlier Mistubishi-based Hyundai Elantras (92-95) are perfect candidates for the popular 4g63t motor swap, which turns the Hyundai Elantra into a real sleeper. These characteristics make the Hyundai Elantra a great car for those who want sports car performance with family car flexibility.

its a 1995 Elantra GLS, the 1st gen engine and eclipse will fit in it perfectly. But with the insurance money I'd put a down payment on a new car, maybe the new Tibby? And 195 would go towards that Elantra.

yeah i know i did... i was told that i might have some hope of it getting fixed, but ill have to wait for the apraisal tomorow. No, I havent bought another one yet, but theres a couple, but it turns out that the Elantra for $195 is automatic, so id have to switch the tranny(i was gonna do it to that white one anyways), i might look for a standard to cut costs a bit. But the ones I've seen cost 1.5k + dollars, so id probly be better off with the automatic. Ill keep you guys posted on the progress. Oh for a daily driver I think I might invest on a Mitsu GTO (3000 GT). Ive always wanted one of those.

Beware though that they are expensive to maintain unless you are really knowledgable about cars.

Let me give you an example on the Elantra like yours and mine the ball joint and the lower control arm can be bought independently. On the Stealth, if you **** up your ball joint you have to buy the whole unit since it's all together. That will set you back $250 rather than the $30 you would have spent on the Elantra for a new ball joint. Another thing, having your timing belt changed at the dealer will set you back a cool $600. Doing it yourself you will need a special tool that is a ***** to purchase and changing the timing belt yourself ? Be ready to curse. We had a hard time replacing it on my buddy's stealth....and he is a Mercedes Benz technician! It took several days to adjust & drive to make it run as before.
