Hyundai Elantra Forum The Hyundai Elantra Forum. Later models (96-up) of this 4-door share their Beta engines and chassis with the Hyundai Tiburon. Earlier Mistubishi-based Hyundai Elantras (92-95) are perfect candidates for the popular 4g63t motor swap, which turns the Hyundai Elantra into a real sleeper. These characteristics make the Hyundai Elantra a great car for those who want sports car performance with family car flexibility.

Is there any downside to getting an elantra gt cam for a 2001 tiburon? is it weaker? etc.
Thanks
Nick</div>The width of the lobe is noticable narrower, note that the GT cam was made for solid lifter and the Beta I has hydraulic lash adjustors.. The GT cam does make the engine slightly unsmooth

I dropped 1 tenth of a second off my 1/4 e.t after I installed my XD cam. I personally didnt "feel" any significant gains, but the mod proved otherwise at the track. Good cheap mod in my opinion.
As for mods that may amplify your gains with the cam: I have a hybrid civic short ram intake, full custom exhaust, and some APC 9.3mm performance wires to go along with the cam (humorously i did the wires for looks mostly, and the wires actually helped me drop another tenth of a second. I think cause mine were a little worn out). Hope this helps a little. Peace!

Well I have to say that I am thouroghly happy with the GT cam ...

The race was lost ... BUT it was lost off the line. I dropped the clutch too high in the RPM range and sat there and spun my tires while Jaws@1 pulled more than a full car length past me, so far in front that I could read his plate. But by the end of the full 1/4 mile he was less than 1/2 a car in front. 2nd and 3rd gear pulled really hard. I would say that it is definately worth the purchase .. but must be complimented by a CAI and Exhaust setup.

Incidently we didn't get to go again as we errr I had a police encounter.
