Hyundai Elantra Forum The Hyundai Elantra Forum. Later models (96-up) of this 4-door share their Beta engines and chassis with the Hyundai Tiburon. Earlier Mistubishi-based Hyundai Elantras (92-95) are perfect candidates for the popular 4g63t motor swap, which turns the Hyundai Elantra into a real sleeper. These characteristics make the Hyundai Elantra a great car for those who want sports car performance with family car flexibility.

Has anybody noticed that there is all this buzz about Gen Coupes, Sonata Hybrids & Turbos, and the Veloster but there is hardly anything out there about the Elantra Coupe. How come? Is it still just a concept or is it really coming?

If it comes out with 2 doors and a turbo, then people may talk about it.

^^That is always a possibility, 1.6l turbo would be a good fit.

I think it will be stepping on the toes of the Forte Koup, remember that Hyundai owns kia. They will need to delicately market it to fit somewhere around the Koup and the Veloster IMO.

Hyundai and Kia openly compete. John Krafcik said that he views Kia just like any other competitor.

There is almost no buzz about elantra anything, because it is a little family car.

^Me too! I really agree. The J2 and RD1 looked awesome but the quality wasn't there. Today the new Elantra and Elantra Coupe look like gunk but the quality is there. Quite the opposite!
