Default Cleaning wheels - removing the tape residue from wheel weights

I hate seeing the tape residue of wheel balancing weights when they were removed when i got new tires. I tried lightly scrubbing it - no help. Tried using goo-gone no help either.

Without using my fingernails to scratch them off, what other options do I have to easily remove them?

Solvents. Start with orange oil based stuff, then try a light oil like WD-40, then go to real solvents like isopropyl alcohol and then mineral spirits and acetone. If the wheels are painted, be careful of those last two.
