Hyundai Elantra Forum The Hyundai Elantra Forum. Later models (96-up) of this 4-door share their Beta engines and chassis with the Hyundai Tiburon. Earlier Mistubishi-based Hyundai Elantras (92-95) are perfect candidates for the popular 4g63t motor swap, which turns the Hyundai Elantra into a real sleeper. These characteristics make the Hyundai Elantra a great car for those who want sports car performance with family car flexibility.

Default 95 Elantra GLS Turbo.

I am on course gathering parts for this project. Currently I have the usual I/E, sAFC and Zex 75 shot setup and the car runs fine but I want to try Turbo. So far these are the parts I have/will have: The price in (?) is what I paid for them.
1. Eclipse 1G stock downpipe. (free from a friend)
2. 2G Eclipse I/C and I/C pipes. ($45)
3. 1G 450cc injectors. ($40)
4. Manual Boost Controller.($20) Can hold to 18psi
5. 1G Exhaust Manifold.($25)
6. 1G UIC pipe with BOV flange.($20)

So what I figure is remaining are:
1. 1G BOV. (Can get it for $40)
2. Turbo 14B or 16G ($200-$600)
3. Some custom I/C piping lower. ($50-$100)

This setup is similar to Hyundai 4G63T's setup and I am wondering if I am missing anything else. Random and the other TURBO gurus.....Help please. Thanks in advance.

A 14B will be cheap, there's a guy selling one here in NM for like $150 fully rebuilt. But of course, the power output is what you pay for it wink A 16G fully rebuilt is probably only $400 or so; I'd do that if I were you.

You basically have it all, but don't forget you'll need to strap an upgraded exhaust to all of that. I'd also suggest picking up a bigger fuel pump (if you don't already have one with the nitrous)

Don't forget the gauges: exhaust gas temp, boost, oil pressure, etc.

Yeah I already have a custom 2.5inch exhaust, Walbro 255lph fuel pump, oil pressure and A/F gauge. I guess I will save up and get a TDO516G. I will not be running alot of boost anyway. Hyundai4G63T was running 14psi with stock internals but I am looking at probably about 8-10psi and a 55HP shot. I don't want to be greedy. Thank's Red.

I'd try to keep the boost at 10psi or below for a start. Your Compression Ratio is much higher than the stock Turbo motors. less boost will make more power with the higher CR, but it will also get you closer to detonation.

You'll need an S-AFC or something to trim down those injectors at idle/off boost, and ramp them up when on boost.

Compare your fuel rail to a Gen1 or Gen2, you might want to consider replacing that too, who knows how yours flows compared to the stock turbos. Ditto for a fuel Pressure Regulator. Go with the unit off the turbo version. Used they should be fairly cheap for each.

Other than that...maybe an upgraded clutch/pressure plate assembly, but you can have fun frying the stock unit for however long it lasts.

You are right. I think I will go ahead and get a fuel rail and the FPR off of a turbo model to be safe. I can find those for cheap. I already have the sAFC and ACT Extreme Clutch (stock disc & 2600lbs P/P) set up. Thanks Random.
