i see that SR sells 1.8 or elantra GT cams for the 2k elantra. are those more high performance then what comes stock from the factory...the site says...

Both cams are Factory OEM cams. 1.8 Cam has 4 degrees more duration and 0.4mm more lift compared to stock Beta 2.0 liter cam.

Elantra GT Cam has 8 degrees more duration and 0.8mm more lift compared to stock Beta 2.0 liter cam.

so the way im reading this is the GT cam hos more lift compared to the stock cam that comes from the factory? and also the price is 125 that doesnt include both cams DOHC does it?

 

I just ordered the gt cam for my tib and had some of the same ?? You only get one cam. and yes it is better than the 2.0 cam but I don't know about the 1.8 factory cam. I do know that these cams are made by hyundia. Or so I was told by shark racing.

It is ONLY the Intake cam
Yes the "GT" or "XD" cam is better than the 1.8L Cam.

That specific 1.8L cam only came in 2 versions of elantras. The "GT" or "XD" cam comes in all 2002 Elantras and 2001 Elantra GT's.

Just also to clarify the misconfusion, the 1.8 elantra cam ( from the 96-98 elantra and 97-98 1.8 tiburon ) was the better factory cam in the past, since the 2001 Elantra and the new Beta II was not out yet, now that it is here the intake cam from the new beta II ( that is in the 2001+ Elantra gt/xd/se ) is the factory cam to use in the older Beta found in 97-2001 tiburons and 99/00 Elantras. My site has been updated with this info as well but the installation is the same, just swap 1.8 cam with 2001 beta II cam.

 

The "GT/XD" cam also comes in the new 4cyl 2003 Tib
