Hyundai Accent Forum The Hyundai Accent Forum. Hyundai's little champ. While the Hyundai Accent and Hyundai Excel may be small, they respond very well to aftermarket modifications and is among the favorites for Hyundai tuners.

Whats the maxium Hp that an Alpha AT tranny can take before something bad happens? Cause I'm planning on trying to keep up with my friends Honda Accord. Of course I have an AT slowing me down, but I have been able to pull away from some Civics. Any ideas for future mods would be nice. I have cold air intake, exhuast, and a SAFC-2 tuner. plan on going turbo, but want to stay NA right now.

What year accord? meh ................doesn't matter. 10lb bottle in the back is the only way you are gonna keep up /win. Beta swap it or boost. But if you have an auto tragic you might as well swap to a 5speed as well.

I tend to forget to tell my year of car lol. Its a 2004, and I'm really thinking a MT swap really bad, but kinda hard finding a donor car in vegas that has all parts I need.

+1 for 10 lb bottle. However, AT does not provide the direct power you would get from a clutch. You loose power in making the fluid spin, which then turns the tranny. MT would be best.

Yeah I figured that. Also isn't an AT heavier than a MT?

The AT is heavier and larger. The AT is supposedly stronger though, with the weak point being the torque converter. If the torque converter is upgraded I've heard that it can hold about 250hp without a problem. I don't think that anyone sells a beefed up torque converter though so you would have to get one custom built. Oh, and you're losing 10%+ more power than through a MT Accent.

Forget it, the Accent AT are total crap. they can take a beating but need an oil cooler and need more frequent fluid and filter change. Without this, the AT will die pretty fast!

Well I have been calling around vegas and finding out if any transmission shops would do this and some of them were pretty cheap. So I might end swapping it out. Not really worried about smog either, cause I have my sources cool.gif
