Very Loud noise from powersteering Belt when starting and before lock to lock
I rebuilding my 1.3 back up. I get a unbareable noise from power steering belt.
It's a new belt. I'v tighten it.. Slacked it.. i'v done everything.
Before it gets to full lock my pump stops spining making the Belt rub over it. (its connon on full lock but iv never had it a turn before it)
Whats the problem ?

Belt is too loose. Last time I tightened mine I used a cheater bar to pry the pump away from the head while tightening the Bolts.
Turning the wheel requires hydraulic power from the system because hydraulics is magic. Harder steering = more pressure required. The more pressure required, the harder the belt has to grip the pulley on the pump. If it squeals and the pump stops at steering lock, the belt is loose. If it stops and squeals during a turn it is REALLY too loose.

Your pulley could be glazed too sand it or rough it up with a scotch bright pad and tighten belt how stocker explained by pryn on it
