Hyundai Accent Forum The Hyundai Accent Forum. Hyundai's little champ. While the Hyundai Accent and Hyundai Excel may be small, they respond very well to aftermarket modifications and is among the favorites for Hyundai tuners.

Here they're all the 1.6l, and have identical specs according to Hyundai. Haven't looked at the tach on a non GT but my redline is 6500 like your GSi.

Nice to see you MJ!

Okay, I drove 2 more 03 Accents. One was a GT and the other was a GS. The GT felt like mine and the GS felt like my buddy's. I'm now sure there is a significant difference between the Accent GT's and the non GT's.

I've changed enough on my car now that it would be hard to compare it to a stock car anymore. I never did figure out whether there are any differences or not though.

Man..heh heh, I kept finding all these spots where I wanted to interject with a thought but the posts just kept comming.

Anyway, The GT DOES have a slightly different tune for the "sporty" feel. I asked a dealer about it he said the power is the same just shifted into the higher rpm thus the "bog" you feel when you shift too low...My car is an 04 GS. I have plain jane base and mine felt real sluggish higher in the rpm, but down low from 2k on till 4,500 rpm I was fairly quick.

ALSO the SRT 4 Caliber has a HYUNDAI motor in it?! Your kidding right?! 2.4 turbo? damn thats sweet.

Im in the same boat 187, I wanna get a second 04 but GT so I can have all the options in it and drop in a 4G63T and make it all wheel drive using a GSX tranny. I got a buddy who can get GSX trannies for $400! Just the 4G63T is gonna be a bitch to find and buy for less than $800. Or thinking of getting a MINI COOPER S and drop engine and trannie into it. Not sure. Either way I go its gonna be an expensive swap, but worth it.

Well, the Theta motor in the Sonata, all the Caliber motors, and the Evo X motors are all "World Engines" and share the same basic design. Head design was up to each manufacturer and the high feature engines like the one in the Caliber SRT-4 and Evo X have upgrades versus the standard versions.

So in a manner of speking you an upgrade a Sonota to have the same heads and what not as the EVO X or SRT 4 Caliber right? part should just bolt right in?

That'll depend on whether the head bolt pattern is the same and whether there are additional coolant or oil passages or anything. The blocks will be physically similar enough that the only way it shouldn't work is if the manufacturers went out of their way to make it not work. As far as i know nobody has tried to swap any Mitsubishi or Chrysler parts onto the Hyundai engines.

It's possible that the head will bolt on, but it's possible that they made changes which would prevent it. If there are changes they will be minor and could probably be overcome with some work.
