It's because they needed a smaller more fuel efficient version of the engine in the Elantra and Tib already so it was cheaper to decrease the displacement of the engine that already bolts in than to set the thing up to take an entirely different engine.

So your saying that this 1.6 is just a under bored Beta 2.0? Like when they first bore it out they give it a much smaller bore? That does make a lot more sense. I knew it had to be for some sane reason. its just too bad. Cause i see all these 1.6 parts sold on Seoulfulracing.com and they all say 1.6/2.0 Engine damper or BBTB or something and they did say that they will fit the Accent LC2 so that was why i was asking about it. Plus i belieave they have cams for the Tiburon 1.6 as well. So i was looking more into that. I wanna get some nice upgraded cams for the Alpha. be nice for it to suck in a bit more air and improve that horrid low end trq.
Thanks anyway guys. ThanxSmiley.gif

Most of the stuff on SFR that says 1.6/2.0 they simply have the same product for both engine options. They're not saying the same component is interchangeable between the engines listed.

I don't remember if the 1.6l is under bored or destroked or both, but yeah that's what I'm saying, they used the same block design and made it smaller displacement.
