the handle broke off of my oil dipstick years ago an i've been pulling it out with pliers ever since. not any more I made a fix using the lid from a can of epoxy spray paint.
-------Before pic --(from 2009)-- you can see the handle is broke off (passenger side of engine for those of you not familiar with the 1.5)

-----after pic--today--(april 5th)

1.I used the cap for a can of paint,
2.screwed it into the stub that remained on top of the dipstick,
3.then glued the 2 together with a clear epoxy glue so that the screw isnt the main securing point

problem is I live in a very rural area in georgia, only 1 redlight in the whole county. the town i live in now has about 1200 people. my old town had less than 400 people. the availabilty of parts is not good. Also i would spend way more than $5 in gas to drive 130 miles to atlanta and back to visit a decent junk yard.

I did something like this a while back lol.
I would pick you up an Accent dipstick next time I go but I've been so busy that I haven't had the time to go that way. Probably won't until the end of the semester in May.

I remember seeing a used Elantra in a lot, they'd just bunged a self-tapping screw into the broken end of the dipstick handle. So, so ghetto.
This is a nice and easy fix, good work dude.
