Default slow filling

im sure most of you have come across this problem already and might have a solution to it. i drive a 2003 accent 1.6 and it takes about 20 minutes to fill my tank. i have been told fuel tank pressure relief valve. i do want a take on the general forums thought of my problem.
when i am at the pump, the first 1.50 goes in fine, after that i cant squeeze the nozzle anymore than 10% or it shuts off every 2 seconds.
any thoughts?

Sounds like something in the tank evacuation system is clogged. Could be charcoal canister, especially since overfilling the tank (topping off) will cause gasoline to run into the canister and just generally make a mess of things in there. Since you have to fill up slowly and it quits all the time I'm sure you regularly overfill the tank, just because you won't know when it's legitimately shutting off because it's full.

If you topped off the car regularly before the issue started I would lean towards the charcoal canister. If not, I think the root of the problem might be a relief valve or a clog elsewhere in the system.
