If brakes are sticking, then you might have to feather the clutch a lot more to get going. That will put a lot (a lot a lot) more heat into the clutch, and heat is what turns clutches into loose bundles of fiber in the bellhousing.

Rockauto is always a good place to buy parts, if you can wait on them and if they have them. Otherwise the parts stores will have all about the same quality of parts but I prefer Advance Auto Parts or O'reilley's.

thanks stocker... going to do autozone because of ergency-warranty-local. another new clutch set/both front calipers/both front break lines. during rechearching it seems the right break line is slightly longer than the left, does this seem correct.

As long as it's within reason I wouldn't worry about slight variations in length. On a foot-ish hose, an inch or even two of length difference would seem strange but wouldn't bother me if everything fits well enough to not cause interference with other parts. A fraction of an inch I wouldn't think much about.

ok got car back 4/27. replaced both front calipers-break lines-another clutch. my kid texts me "dad this car sucks", so whats wrong now. says feels like breaks dragging, car barely wants to do 40 mph. is there an issue with master cylinder??? we haven't replaced it. (what is this mod I heard about). THANKYOU FOR ANY HELP YA"LL CAN GIVE.

When I swapped to manual transmission I didn't adjust the brake pedal and that's exactly what it felt like until I adjusted it. If you took delivery of a car in that shape, take it straight back to the mechanic.

The slave cylinder for the clutch has a restrictor that makes the clutch operate a little slower (at least, it did on my car). Pulling that out un-stupids the clutch pedal. Maybe that's what you are thinking of?

stocker is there an image of this restrictor..or is it more or less self explanatory, if I take it apart..OH and apparently the car seems to be revving high again

Stocker 06-18-2018 08:27 PM

Basically this: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ill-out-2.html

it's pretty similar, a small spring and a small plate with a hole in the middle, in the slave cylinder.

Did the car ever get fixed to where it actually worked right? If you kept driving around with dragging brakes, you might have fried another clutch.
