Default new plug wires. performance DROP ?!

hey. i was browsing ebay and saw some nkg plug wires for the 1.5L sohc for what ended up being like 20 bucks all said and done. so i got them, the guy who bought them had never used them he said cus hes got a dohc.. id been talking to him a little too about his accent (hes out in cali) and seems like a decent guy, so i don't think its anything like me getting screwed. the wires were clean too, and not a nick or anything not even scuffed, and they got dirty after only a week in my car so they were strait id have to say.

anyways, the thing is, i have a 5spd, and whenever rpms drop to like 1500-2000 or so, and im in say 4th, and give it gas to get her moveing... the engine will like stutter for a split second then pick up.. kinda like it hick-ups. now, ive put the stock wires back on..and it doesn't do this..or at least its not as pronounced. like ill feel it buck a bit as it goes to pick up, but not like a complete pause for a faction of a second.

i liked those wires damnit..what the hell's up with this? im gonna start adding the new wires one at a time to repalce the old ones..to see if its maybe just one wire? also, ive got a cel on and im pretty sure thats cus my upstream o2 sensor is dieing. but i don't think that'd matter.

whats anybody think?

When was the last time you changed your plugs?

I like your idea of changinging the wires one at a time to see if one is defective.

Although if it was it would cause misfires regardless of rpm's

I had a similar problem in another car. what it turned out to be was one wired had a small short in it. at idle it ran fine because the wire was making contact. but when giving it gas the engine tilted slightly and broke the connection causing a misfire. hope you find the problem before it kills a plug like mine did.
