I really need some info on how to do this. I might have to put a 1.6L into my 2000 Accent GL because they seem to be easier and cheaper to find than the 1.5L. I have heard diffrent things about doing this. I understand that the 1.6 drops right in place of the 1.5 and the only thing that needs to be done is change the maf to map. I have also heard I need the ECU and harness for the 1.6 in order to make it work. Which one is correct? Also if it is just the sensor rewire, can anyone give me the how to on how to do that for my car. I am having trouble finding anything on the service website that makes any sense to me. Also I am not interested in the 2.0 swap. I am doing this just so I have a running car again.
Many thanks in advance.

'it depends'
I did a 1.5 sohc to 1.5 DOHC swap on my 95 X3. It was a fairly painless swap, you have to swap the roll stoppers from the 1.5 onto the 1.6, and the A/C and power steering pumps are mounted in different locations too. It's possible to get both running, but you'd want a 1.6 donor car to scavenge parts from to do that.
As for the wiring, I had it easy because I could use the 1.5 DOHC loom, and only had to modify about five wires to get it running. I don't know if you have a late X3 or an early LC, but you'll need the loom from the donor car and it'd help to pull the dashboard to get at everything.
It's a doable swap for sure, it would really help if you had a donor car though.
