Hyundai Accent Forum The Hyundai Accent Forum. Hyundai's little champ. While the Hyundai Accent and Hyundai Excel may be small, they respond very well to aftermarket modifications and is among the favorites for Hyundai tuners.

Default High Mileage

Friday, 9/26/08, I rolled 200,000 miles on my 2000 Hyundai Accent (Purchased in April of 2001).

People keep telling me that I need to get a new car, but now that I've hit this milestone, I'm going to keep it just to see how far it will go. It's not costing me any more than $1000/year in maintenance and still gets 33mpg... Coming up on the 3rd timing belt change, never have had to get inside the engine, transmission (still on the original clutch)...

My one regret... Not buying the car with air conditioning.

You're well ahead of me in the mileage, and my Accent will probably never hit 200k miles since it's not our long distance cruiser anymore. Still at 122k miles I'm impressed with how well it's held up considering the abuse I give it. I'm still on the original clutch too.

You guys suck. My '02 (bought in Oct. '02 with 17 miles) now has 102k miles. And the first clutch died at 58k, (my fault, of course) though I continued to drive it until 63k before getting it replaced.

Then again it's only been on about 5 road trips, all <500 miles. Most of my mileage is in a 200x25mile area.

I intend to own the car until my children start driving, then I'll gift it to them. But I don't have any kids yet. I'd like to see mine hit at least 400k.
