Default headers on accent

I just installed the SR headers on my 97 accent GT and was wondering if it would ever get so hot as to melt anything? I dont know if im being paranoid about the "hot" smell that i smell or could it just be like a material smell? Anyway put those in and also a custom 2.25" cat-back exhasut to a magnaflow muffler. Sounds awsome.

Good going! eek! Which ones are they and what modifications (if any)did you have to make to put them on? I have a GT as well and I am debating either to keep the eng or chuck it for a tib. If I can acheive a decent power gain w/ mods I'll prob keep it. email me the info if you prefer!

I got the SR 4-1 header and custom cat-back and i noticed a significant difference. The car revs alot quicker now, but i havent really been able to opn it up that much cause its been raining like crazy here all day. If everything goes as planned and i can find a dyno i will be dynoing my car just to see what its actually got

when i installed my header on my 95 accent for the first couple of days there was a strong smell but i think it was just because it was new. i have had it for a few months now and there isn't any problems with melting or burning and that smell is gone now.

The smell goes away after a while. The headers are usually coated with mineral oils to keep them looking purdy. That coating cooks off after about 2 weeks, and the smell will go away.

I just had a custom 2.25" exhaust installed as well. I had it welded to a Tenzo R cannon style muffler, and it REALLY sounds good. I'm glad to hear about the header. Do the SR headers for Accents need to be modified for a second sensor or not. If not, I guess I might be able to do it myself. One summer at a time though, just getting my Accent was a project in it's self...

No mods for my header, one O2 sensor on the header and one after the cat. I would have done mine myself but i figured id have the exhaust shop do it while the car was up on the lift.
