My 04 accent gl, 1.6L DOHC has 125000 kms, and I am having problems with it wanting to stall at idle. I already replaced plugs, wires, coil packs, check for vac leaks. I was going to take it to the dealership to have it diagnosis done but was told that they just check for codes and go from there. I wanted them to hook it up to a scan tool to see how the car is running in really time. They said the 04 don't have that capability. Funny because my first car a 91 pontiac sunbird could..... So is this true? (I believe not) and what is a good scan tool? (I may buy one instead). I don't want to pay the dealership for maybes unless if they are wrong they put the old part back on and I don't pay. Again they claim that is not the case. They say they get pointed in that direction and doesn't fix it, it is not there fault. What to do..........
Thanks

There are obd2 scan tools that have real time diagnosing features with them, you just hook them into the obd2 slot and you can view it. As for good ones, I'm not too sure, I just normally go to Auto Zone and borrow theirs.
I own an Autoxray scan tool that works on all obdII vehicles. 1996 and newer. I can view live readings from most of the sensors and I can reset the computer with the scan tool as well which helps when diagnosing trouble codes.
My scan tool did set me back over a couple hundred dollars but it was worth it.
