I have been using OEM filters that I buy from the dealer, but they raised prices big time recently. So I think I may try some other ones from the local auto part places. How good are Amsoil or Fram oil filters compared to the OEM ones? They are significantly cheaper but not sure if its due to quality or not.
DO NOT use fram oil filters.
All the info you could EVER need is on this site:

One of the best sites on the net for info on oil and filters. They even have side by side comparisons of different types of filters.

No FRAM. Ever.
OEM or Wix are the only filters I personally trust. I've heard the Amsoil works also.
Unlike most vehicles a lot of Hyundais are very picky about oil filters.

Purolator Pure 1 . . . dangit faith stop agreeing with me! Wix are also ok to use.
There is a TSB from Hyundai about HLA noise and aftermarket oil filters. The filter specifically NOT to use is the cheap FRAM. They will not allow enough oil to keep the head well-supplied, and the lash adjusters will tick. This is the sound of an engine on the fast track to a rebuild.

Honestly, I've used both kinds. All kinds etc on my accent. In the end at 120k oil pressure was still 75-80 psi at cold start and around 20-25 at idle. I used K&N, Hyundai, Fram, STP no difference I even used synethic fluid, till it was very apprent waste of money on a hyundai engine. Tolerances are not that tight.

If you use the cheap FRAM filter on a Beta engine with marginal oil pressure, you will end up with top-end oil starvation and possibly eventual damage. Filters are cheap enough that one should get a good one. Consider the cost of a rebuilt engine vs. the cost of oil filters, plus the hassle of a dead car.
No difference? LOL!
maybe you need to do some research....

This site took all major brands of oil filters and cut them open to do a side by side comparison. Fram was the worst filter BY FAR!
