Default Exhaust for Accent Question (already tryed search) Please Help

I am wanting to put wider pipes from my exhaust to my catalitic converter with out loosing power.
Does anyone know how much wider I should get the pipes without loosing too much back pressure?
Sure do appreciate it all!
Can't wait to get my Accent back on the road/tack again!
Peace

I'd say no bigger than 2.25 unless your are gonna run NOS or a Turbo.

To be honest, it really doesn't matter. You could use a 3* diameter pipe. The cat converter itself is going to provide the backpressure, not the pipe diameter.

Just make sure your pipe transitions are nice and smooth. If the headers are 2.25* and the cat is 2.25*, go with 2.25* piping between them. If the header is 2.25*, but the cat is 2.5*, use a 2.5* pipe that is compressed down to fit over the 2.25* headers to provide a nice gradual increase in size till you reach the cat.

Your cat is probably too old already and produces too much backpressure. You might as well have a new 2.25* cat installed along with the mandrel bent exhaust. 2.25* is what most Accents use, especially if you'll have bolt-ons. Forced Induction=2.5*.
