Alpha engine differences?
What are the differences between the 1.5 DOHC Alpha and the 1.6 DOHC Alpha? They seem to be completely different engines even though they are both Alpha engines?
Was the 1.6 Beta a better engine? Any power and torque figures?

i remember random saying something about the bore and stroke of the 1.6 beta being different than the that of the 1.6 alpha. he didn't get to much into detail cause i lost interest after he said that we don't even get it here in the US. but he did say that it was better for some reason.......the reason i don't remember.
The alpha and the beta have nothing in common, minus the displacment at 1.6L, 4 cylinders, and two camshafts.
The 1.6L alpha had a bigger bore and stroke, lumpier intake cam, internal idle air bypass (its in the TB), is equiped with a MAP sensor (nothing new to people outside of north america), has a returnless fuel system sad.gif , and has an all around better design for strength and cooling than the 1.5L DOHC. In other words, the new engine is an improvement over the old. Suprise suprise, lol.
