Default Custom Cat-Back Exhaust Complete!

Hey guys,

I got my exhaust done. 2.25" centre cat removed. They said because there's another cat near the downpipe it should be okay. Crush bent, they said mendrel bent won't make a difference with my engine. And no fancy muffler tip, as of now. I don't want any heat..will do that later. Went with a magnaflow 12865 muffler which sounds quite nice, it's kinda noisy though.

Here are some pics! and a video of my gf driving around. I reset the ECU too, ECU wasn't reset in the video though.

I have been. I was so dumb not to reset the ECU. I did that this morning and man what a difference. It idles at a way lower rpm, the engine doesn't sound like its struggling anymore and my low end torque is quite nice. I must do a 0-60 test now. I must!!!

lol, not bad its cool seeing you have fun with it.

When I had my accent a 2002, It backfired so much LIKE POP POP, and to top it off it shot flames between shifts at redline....

Intake, Header, full exhaust. ALOT louder then yours though. Don't ask.

Cool man. I plan to do headers once my warranty is up as well. Then GTE turbo Did you remove your center cat too?

I'm thinking of upgrading the downpipe and replacing the cat near the downpipe with a high flow cat as well, was wondering if that'll aid in airflow.

Sounds good, looks like a decent job on the exhaust too.

My 03 at least only had one cat built into the exhaust manifold.

Guys, I'm having a problem.

After resetting the ECU and driving hard, my accent now backfires. The muffler makes that farty noise when I rev it high. My friend said the air/fuel mixture might be too rich. Anyway to fix this? It never happened before I reset the ECU.

Does it ONLY go 'pop pop pop' or grumble a little when you let off the gas? Or does it go KA-POW!!! or what are you calling a backfire? Under what conditions does it make the noise? It is not unheard-of for you to have a little burble in the exhaust on deceleration when you get a new exhaust, but sounding like BANG is never good.

Fart can sound means you need a glasspack in the middle of the long pipe - anyone agree?

Only when i gun it and the tach hits +5000 rpm, it starts squiting diheria. No pop or. Bang on deacceleration.

if its only popping during deceleration, this is caused by too much fuel going unburned and exploding inside the pipe, usually at the header. this might be caused by bad readings from the rear 02 sensor if you took away the catalytic converter.

Do you have a header ?

also do you still have a catalytic converter? if not, put one in, the ECU likes it, and so does the environment !

i HIGHLY suggest putting a glasspack in, maybe something above 20 inches long. make sure it matches the diameter of your piping when you order. It takes away the bad droning sound when cruising on the highway, and adds a bit of bass to the sound, also it takes away the despicable fart can sound if you dont have headers.

but nice choice of muffler, they are made real well !
