Big problem...
That is really weird. I've never heard of a hyundai (ive seen GMs go batshit crazy) going into limp home over an alternator and I wonder why the attempted jump start didn't help.
I lost my alternator on the XD in a rain storm. The first sign something was going wrong was the wipers slowing down. One by one other systems started to slow or fail. Right before I made it home the airbag light een came on. However, it never tried to stall and never threw a CEL. I think the only reason I made it home that night was it had a fairly new battery.
back on the trans, get them to do the fluid change with it chilling in the shop if your ATF is black.

Yeah, I told them that..they said they'll look into it.
Yeah i dunno why my alternator blew. I have a 500w amp hooked up to it with a 60a fuse. I don't know what the power rating of the accent alternators are but i read that a aftermarket stereo system can't blow an alternator anyway.
Any confirmation on this?
It's weird when it did blow, I wasn't blasting it, it was off. I had it blasting through all winter, heat on, HID lights everything..and finally it kaputs. Eventually I'm gonna put in a high output alternator but those are pretty damn expensive....
I also read that a stressing alternator will effect acceleration because it can't supply a constant 14v so then it borrows power from the battery and if that's all used up, borrows power from the engine....
Hyundai told me the car was strictly running off the battery, the alternator wasn't powering at all. Pretty impressive that I drove that car for about 2 days just off the battery, lucky it didn't drain while driving!
on my first car, the alternator went out a few times. I'd first notice the radio cutting out when I'd press the brakes.
I've heard of A/T hitting limp mode as a safety measure. Weird it happens with alternator.

Welp I got my car back. Man that Kia Soul u2 rental was brutal on gas. I'm surprised they didn't say anything about my sound system, using that to possibly nail the cause of the blown alternator. the alternator in my car (the new one) is rated 90a. The fuse is 60a. I've got HID fogs and headlights with slim ballasts. All in all, there isn't much current for that alternator to work with... But hey, if they're gonna replace it and not say anything, fine by me! guess I'll just keep blowing it lol.
And the guy who worked on my car re-routed my 12v sub cable nicely to the battery as well.
