Default Accent 3rd 4th and 5th gear ratios

I was looking around some, and found this site.

http://www.autos-korea.com/as_part/hyundai...z/spec_getz.htm

The Accent shares the same transmission model, the M5AF3, as the Getz. Would it be possible to replace the 3rd, 5th, and 5th gears with those of the 1.1l Getz. and keep the current 1.6l finals to:
A. reduce the chance of having to shift to 4th in the 1/4?
B. Cruise at hwy speeds in 5th at slightly lower rpms.?
C. Increase top speed a little?

Also, are these gear ratios for the 1.6l Getz the same as for the 2001 1.6l Accent?

Numerically higher gears are "shorter", i.e. you lose top speed and would gain some acceleration between gears. If anything you'd want longer gears as the accent tops out around 130mph.

No what you'd really need is an engine built enough to get you to 130mph. frown

good find. can't find 01 accent gear ratios on webtech, but the 99 accent cruising gear ratio (fifth gear ratio multiplied by the final gear ratio) is 3.217, whereas the 1.1 getz fifth gear would give 2.847, a 12% drop. crude estimate says 99 accent rpm would drop by 12% on the highway.

I always thought you just added the gear ratio in question to the axle ratio for the final drive in any given gear.

If someone could, post up the gear ratio's for the 5 speed accent. I'll do up an RPM/Speed chart to compare it to the getz ratio's.

For the LC's, 14" wheels are 185/60/14 and 13" are 175/70/13.

My X3 (97 GT) had 175/65/14's. Not sure about the 13" wheels though.

The Getz is about half the size of an accent. I'd expect it to roll on 12's or 13's
