If it varies with Engine RPM, and is comeing from the top of the engine, it could be the Hydraulic lash Adjusters.
Run "motor flush" through your engine per the manufactuers directions at your next oil change, see if that makes it go away once you add in fresh oil.
If so, do the motor flush routine every other oil change and change your oil every 3000 miles. You've got goop in your oil system clogging up your HLA's.

The injectors are also fairly loud, but they are ususally more of a "clack" than a "tick" and they do not get louder as engine RPM goes up, but the HLA's ticking does get louder as RPM goes up.

i think what fast.shark is talking about is when we both had our cars idling next to each other u could hear a sort of tick or clacking as u put it. Im not worried about it b/c my car only has 3100 miles on it and its done it since the day i got it and it only had 5 miles then, plus ive changed my oil at 1000 miles and 3000 soo i dont think my engine is messed up oh well Now fast.shark on the other hand, opened up his engine and put in the 1.8 cam soo maybe theres a new noise comin from those? i dunno im just a stupid idoit that works at discount auto, and im gettin sick of seeing parts all day AHHHHHH sorry i had to get that off my chest smile.gif

If both cars were idling, it was probably the injectors. You lose the injector sound about 2500 or 3000 RPM. If it was a bad HLA, you would ear it ALL the time, just louder and faster at high RPM.
